20 Days and counting . . .
Have you ever overcommitted to something, or think you can
be the ‘hero’ and do it all? I have been
trying to be honest with myself, and ask why do I always say yes? The bottom line is I like to be a
‘pleaser’. I don’t want someone to be
disappointed in me or upset if I say no, or I can’t make it. Reminds me of Matthew 5:37, “Just
let your yes mean yes. Let your no mean
no. Anything more than this comes from
the evil one.” NIV I find this to be a good reminder, when I am feeling
overwhelmed and guilty for not committing to something. In advance, I have apologized to my husband,
children, family, and friends for not being as available as I have been in the
past.
I woke up this morning in a panic. I realized we have less than 20 days to
finish packing and moving from Algonquin to St. Charles. In these 20 days, 7
days I am in class all day. I can’t
forget the homework and deadlines I need to have done before then. UGH!!! Have
you ever had that feeling? You wake up thinking ‘everything’ has to be done
today? This is the norm for me. I have this crazy idea I can fit 28 hours of
work into a 24-hour day. Packing,
moving, and unpacking will not end here.
In addition to selling our home, buying a new home, starting my masters at
Judson, completing my first year of teaching, and raising three kids I am
feeling a bit overwhelmed.
Stay tuned for more . . .

Is that a picture of your new house? I hope so, because it's beautiful! Even if it means sleeping a little less, I know you'll scrounge up the time to everything accomplished. It'll all be worth it when you're loving your new house.
ReplyDeleteI was going to ask the same question as Sarah, is that your new house? It's gorgeous! It'll all be worth it in the end and I'm looking forward to reading all about it on your blog!
ReplyDeleteI love your willingness to be real. Your struggles are so relatable. I can't wait to read more.
ReplyDeleteI can totally relate! I am that people pleaser that really struggles to say no! Hang in there. You have certainly hit the scene like a storm!
ReplyDeleteHi Ladies - I adore you all !! Thank you :) Yes, this is my new home . . . only 15 days ! I think I'm stressing more for the speech class today.
ReplyDeleteOvercommitting is kind of a lifestyle, isn't it? Your ability to organize is astounding, though. I mean, how many staples do I owe you? And chicken tacos...in class? You, Jennifer, and Adam really kind of set the bar with that one. Honestly, I think I'm going to convince Katie to bake something for me for Monday. But, while I hope you consider your own sanity when taking on responsibilities, know that a lot of people—MLIT, your family—appreciate what you do.
ReplyDeleteNow, if you could commit to moving your own seat in HAWAC, just like you've moved everyone else's...once, maybe...at some point during the next few days...maybe...
